The customer becomes part of the community creating value. Several service providers contribute to a joint solution which fits an individual customer need. In the ideal situation the customer is controlling the value creation process, because the customer has the best overview of the environment where the solution is needed. Quite often however the customer is not able to do so.

The old paradigm says: “give it to us, we’ll do it for you.” The new paradigms finds ways to enable customers to direct the value creation towards a solution that exactly fits their needs. Therefore a coach is added. This coach is not a single person, but a combination of people and technology. One could call it a coaching function. Especially the technology part is interesting because that helps driving costs down by increasing overall productivity.
